Isolated farmhouse in the rolling landscape of Alta Murgia seen from Monte Caccia near Spinazzola
An abandoned farmhouse stands alone in the vast landscape of Alta Murgia, photographed from Monte Caccia in the territory of Spinazzola. The concrete block building, now without fixtures and in evident state of decay, represents one of the last witnesses of the agrarian reform that attempted to colonize these lands in the 1950s. The surrounding landscape extends as far as the eye can see: cereal fields alternate with natural pastures, creating a mosaic of greens that characterizes this portion of the Murgia plateau. The dirt road alongside the building leads to other farms, now all abandoned. The absence of trees in the immediate surroundings of the building accentuates its loneliness, while on the horizon the gentle undulations of the terrain draw the typical profile of the Murgia. The clear sky gives depth to the composition.
