An abandoned farmhouse stands against the blue sky of Alta Murgia, on Monte Caccia in the territory of Spinazzola. The building made of concrete blocks and tuff represents one of many constructions built during the agrarian reform promoted by the De Gasperi and Segni governments in the 1950s. The program included the construction of complete farms with housing and agricultural outbuildings for assigned peasant families. Today these structures lie abandoned, silent witnesses to the failure of an agricultural model that failed to take root in these harsh lands. Spontaneous vegetation has reclaimed the surrounding spaces, while the walls show signs of time and neglect. In the background, another ruin can be glimpsed, confirming the density of these constructions in the territory.
