The Pizzomunno monolith is a white limestone block approximately 25 meters high, located at the beginning of Castello beach on the southern side of the town of Vieste. This geological formation rises isolated from the sandy shore and is characterized by distinct horizontal stratifications resulting from millennia of marine and atmospheric erosion. The background shows the modern urban area developed at the foot of the cliff, dominated by the Gargano hills covered with Mediterranean scrub and ancient olive groves. The elevated observation point reveals the continuity between the rocky coastline and the first stretch of the bay that extends southwards toward the Pugnochiuso coast.
