Baia dei Mergoli is located along the Gargano coast, between the municipalities of Mattinata and Vieste. The site is characterized by limestone rock formations emerging from the sea, known as the Diomede Sea Stack and the Finestrella Sea Stack, the latter identifiable by its natural rock opening. The local morphology is defined by sheer cliffs covered with Aleppo pines and Mediterranean scrub. The observation point along the Provincial Road 53 places the inlet within the geological context of the Gargano National Park, where marine erosion processes have shaped the coastline into natural arches and sea caves.
