The composition presents a frontal view of Castel Nuovo, also known as Maschio Angioino, one of the symbols of Naples. The castle is a historical-architectural fortress of Medieval and Renaissance origin, whose construction began in 1279 at the behest of Charles I of Anjou. The structure is defined by five large cylindrical towers, crowned with merlons on corbels. In the center stands the Triumphal Arch, a Renaissance element in white marble added to celebrate the entry of Alfonso V of Aragon into the city. The facade is surrounded by a moat, not entirely visible here.
