The eastern sector of the Sassolungo massif, known as the Shoulder, rises from the Col Raiser plateau in the municipality of Santa Cristina. The geological formation dates back to the Triassic period and consists of carbonate sediments of biogenic origin, belonging to the Sciliar platform. The view highlights the morphology of the rock faces and the debris channels accumulated at the base of the cliffs, evidence of mechanical erosion processes and the action of freeze-thaw cycles within the alpine context of the province of Bolzano.
