The imposing natural arch of Azure Window seen from the rocky platform of Dwejra

A close-up perspective of the Azure Window shows the majesty of the natural arch that projected over the sea at Dwejra. The limestone structure, formed through millennia of marine erosion, created a natural window onto the Mediterranean. The support pillar, approximately 20 meters wide at the base, supported the imposing lintel forming the arch. The crystal-clear waters at the base of the formation were a paradise for divers. The Azure Window appeared in numerous film and television productions, including the Game of Thrones series. Its collapse in 2017 represented an invaluable loss for Malta's natural heritage.
