A panoramic view of Dwejra Bay on Gozo island shows the coastal landscape characterized by spectacular limestone cliffs. On the hill to the left stands the Dwejra Tower, one of the watchtowers built by the Knights of Malta in the 17th century to defend the coasts from pirate raids. The rock formations in the foreground, eroded by the sea, create a highly evocative lunar landscape. In the distance, the high cliffs overlooking the sea testify to the erosive power of the Mediterranean. This area is now a protected natural area and one of Malta's most popular diving sites.
