This historic photograph immortalizes the Azure Window, the majestic limestone natural arch that stood on the coast of Dwejra on Gozo island. The geological formation, approximately 28 meters high, was one of Malta's most recognizable symbols and one of the archipelago's most visited tourist attractions. Visitors on the rocky platform provide a sense of scale to the imposing natural structure. The arch, formed over thousands of years by sea and wind erosion, tragically collapsed on March 8, 2017 during a storm. This image therefore represents a precious testimony of a now-lost natural monument that fascinated generations of visitors.
