Moving view of Ghetto Heroes Square (Plac Bohaterow Getta) in Krakow's Podgorze district, where 70 empty bronze and iron chairs commemorate the victims of the Jewish ghetto. Each chair represents a thousand Jews deported from this square to extermination camps during the Nazi occupation. The memorial, inaugurated in 2005, occupies the space where the final liquidation of the ghetto took place in March 1943. The surrounding historic buildings testify to the tragic history of this place, today one of Europe's most touching memorial sites inviting reflection on the tragedy of the Holocaust.
