A fragment of the original Warsaw ghetto wall is preserved in a residential courtyard, protected by a metal railing. The red brick wall separates two worlds: on one side, historic buildings that survived the war, on the other, the modern glass skyscrapers that dominate Warsaw's skyline. This architectural contrast summarizes the city's history, almost completely destroyed during World War II and then rebuilt. The wall fragment, just a few meters long, is one of the very few tangible remains of the barrier that imprisoned Europe's largest Jewish community.
