The photograph captures one of the most iconic views of Castro Urdiales: the long stone pier stretching towards the promontory where the city's main monuments stand. On the left, the rocks of the promontory house the lighthouse watching over the harbor entrance, built on the remains of the ancient Templar castle. In the center, the unmistakable silhouette of the Gothic church of Santa Maria de la Asuncion stands against the cloudy sky. Some visitors stroll along the pier, enjoying the sea breeze and the panorama. The emerald-colored sea of the Bay of Biscay laps at both sides of the walkway. On the left, the harbor can be glimpsed with its boats and waterfront buildings. This pier, called Muelle de Don Luis, is a meeting place for residents and tourists, ideal for admiring sunsets and seascapes.
