Charming view of Plaza del Pilar Nuevo in the heart of the historic Vegueta district in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The stone fountain in the center of the square is surrounded by colonial buildings with characteristic Canarian wooden balconies. On the left, the magnificent green portal of Casa de Colon is visible, a museum dedicated to Christopher Columbus who stopped here in 1492 before continuing to the Americas. This corner of Vegueta, declared a World Heritage Site, preserves intact the atmosphere of 15th and 16th century Gran Canaria.
