The Interior of the Romanesque-Gothic Crypt of Santander Cathedral with Ribbed Vaults

The mighty columns with Romanesque capitals support the elegant Gothic ribbed vaults, illuminated by soft light that gives sacredness to the space. The crypt, dating from the 13th century, represents the oldest part of the religious building and preserves the relics of the patron saints. The cathedral was severely damaged in the 1941 fire and subsequently restored.
