The photograph captures a moment of daily life on the spectacular cliffs of Cabo Mayor, north of Santander. In the foreground, a white dog and a girl sitting in the grass contemplate the wild landscape of the Cantabrian coast. The Cabo Mayor lighthouse, built in 1839, dominates the rocky promontory plunging into the Atlantic Ocean. Waves crash at the base of the limestone cliffs, over 30 meters high. This stretch of coast, part of the Dunas de Liencres Natural Park, offers some of the most evocative panoramas in northern Spain. The overcast sky typical of the region adds a dramatic atmosphere to the scene.
