A detail of Kungstradgarden station shows one of the sculptures decorating this unique underground space. The mythological figure, carved in light stone, emerges from the natural rock wall creating a surreal effect. The surrounding rock features purple and grey veins testifying to the geology of the Scandinavian underground. The green and white floor with geometric patterns contrasts with the natural tones of the rock. This station is famous for incorporating elements from demolished palaces in the city, transforming the metro into an underground museum. The artworks in the Tunnelbana have been created by over 150 artists from 1950 to today.
