A magnificent view of the Grossmunster from the bridge over the Limmat River shows the imposing twin towers of the cathedral reflected in the calm waters. The Romanesque cathedral, built between the 11th and 13th centuries, represents one of Zurich's most significant monuments. According to legend, it was founded by Charlemagne on the site where the tombs of the martyred saints Felix and Regula, patrons of the city, were found. The historic buildings of Niederdorf line the river with their colorful facades, while the blue sky with white clouds completes this postcard of historic Zurich.
