Detail of St. Mark Church main facade with its magnificent 14th-century Gothic portal, one of the masterpieces of medieval Croatian sculpture. The pointed arch is decorated with fifteen niches containing statues of apostles, prophets and the Virgin with Child. Mullioned windows, rose window and Gothic decorative elements give the facade an austere elegance typical of Central European religious architecture. This frontal view allows appreciation of sculptural details often overlooked when viewing the famous colorful roof.
