The common cells of Theresienstadt Small Fortress where hundreds of prisoners were crammed in inhumane conditions. The vaulted rooms, originally designed as storage for the Habsburg fortress, were adapted to contain as many detainees as possible. Forced promiscuity, lack of hygiene, and malnutrition created ideal conditions for the spread of typhus and other epidemic diseases.
