The latrines of a Dachau concentration camp barrack, with brown ceramic toilets lined up without any separation or privacy. Prisoners had only a few minutes daily to use these facilities, often in conditions of extreme overcrowding. The humiliation of losing all intimacy was an integral part of the Nazi dehumanization system. The gray walls and plywood ceiling show the sparse construction of barracks, designed to house 200 people but often containing over 2,000.
