The Sachsenhausen autopsy room preserves the white tiled tables where the bodies of deceased prisoners were examined. The sloped surfaces with central drainage were designed to facilitate fluid runoff. In this aseptic environment, SS doctors conducted not only autopsies but also criminal medical experiments on prisoners. The glass cabinets along the walls contained instruments and samples. The natural light filtering through the large windows contrasts with the horror of the activities that took place in this room.
