Complete view of the Erechtheion, the most sacred Ionic temple of the Athens Acropolis, dedicated to Athena Polias and Poseidon-Erechtheus. Built between 421 and 406 BC, this architectural masterpiece features a unique asymmetrical structure due to the different ground levels and multiple shrines it housed. On the right, the famous Porch of the Caryatids is visible, while the elegant Ionic columns of the north portico testify to the refinement of 5th century BC Athenian architecture. The temple housed the wooden statue of Athena and the olive tree sacred to the goddess.
