This view of Bari's Nazario Sauro seafront was taken from a drone approximately eighteen metres above its take-off point, over the water off Largo Giannella, looking south-east along the coast. On the right, the promenade stretches towards the horizon, marked by a row of illuminated street lamps and the rock armour protecting the sea wall. On the left, two breakwaters parallel to the shore shelter the waters along the seafront. The seafront took on its modern layout in the 1920s and 1930s, as part of the urban changes promoted by Araldo di Crollalanza, Bari's podestà and later Italy's Minister of Public Works. Large public buildings were erected along it in the 1930s, including the Palazzo della Provincia, recognisable by its illuminated clock tower. A succession of street lamps lines the promenade. The photograph was taken on an early October morning, about fifty minutes before sunrise. The sky is still deep blue, streaked with thin pink clouds, with a red band along the eastern horizon. Street lights and illuminated façades are reflected in the calm water, while a few points of light are visible out at sea.
