San Felice Tower represents the first defensive structure of the viceregal sighting system located along the coast between Mattinata and Vieste. Built in 1540, the tower features a square plan and battered walls, designed for protection against Saracen incursions in the Adriatic Sea. In the background lies the San Felice Arch, a rock formation created by the karstic and marine erosion of the white limestone typical of the Gargano promontory. The site is situated at the edge of a bay characterized by dense coverage of Aleppo pines and Mediterranean scrub, crossed by the coastal road that connects the main settlements of the northern Apulian coastal area.
