The structure shown is an example of alpine rural architecture known as a baita or mountain hut, constructed with wood on a stone base and featuring a shingle roof, historically used for seasonal livestock shelter and haymaking in the Val Gardena pastures. In the background, facing north, rises the Sass Rigais, the main peak of the Odle Group, characterized by a morphology of towers and spires typical of the Triassic Dolomite composition. The site is located in the Santa Cristina territory, within the UNESCO-protected geological system, where the coniferous forest line gives way to scree deposits and the vertical walls of the massif.
