The baroque facade of Pamplona Ayuntamiento, the city hall from which the San Fermin chupinazo is launched
The photograph captures the Ayuntamiento of Pamplona, the city hall overlooking Plaza Consistorial. The building, constructed in the 18th century, features a sumptuous baroque stone facade that blends elements of different architectural styles. The structure rises three richly decorated levels with columns, wrought iron balconies, and heraldic coats of arms. The crowning is characterized by a pediment with a central clock surmounted by allegorical figures and statues representing Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance. Institutional flags fly from the balconies of the noble floor. This building is world-famous because from its central balcony, every July 6th at noon, the chupinazo is launched, the rocket that marks the beginning of the San Fermin festivities. The paved square welcomes some passersby on a sunny day.
